A Brief Blogging Break

Leaving in a mini-van...don't know when I'll be back again.

We'll be gone for a little while, so I thought I would give a little preview for the next blogs!

As we were loading up my parents belongings into the U-Haul, Roger found a box of wigs. I put a few of them on Mary Katherine and got a pretty good laugh out of them. Didn't have my camera at the time, but will definitely get some pics soon. Just imagine what Mary Katherine would look like with a full set of gray hair. :) I'm thinking I'll get a "Mary Katherine in 20 years" and "MK in 50 years" shot. The grandkids will love playing with the wigs when they come visit Grandma and Papa. I can picture Everett as a little Kiz in a wig and her old pink prom dress. Yes...mom did keep all of these as well. Other items of interest discovered during the move were 1964 film reels of Papa playing football and a box of Papa's school work from grade school up to high school. I guess it's time to find out what the true K. Wayne was like!

The other big blog to come will be about our upcoming trip to Tennessee to see Roger's family. In two days, we will be leaving for our 15-16 hour road trip. On our way, we stop in OKC to see an opthamologist who will be looking at MK's blocked tear duct. Please pray that this long road trip goes smoothly and that her doctor's appointment go well as well!

Pictures to come next week!

Bring the heat....

How about this HOT weather! MK and I have been swimming like fish (okay maybe not, but we've been in the pool) for the past 3 days. I haven't brought my camera in the water, BUT...

I was supposed to meet a girl and her daughter at 8:00 this morning to take pictures. She didn't show, but it ended up a great time to take some 10 month pics of MK. I'd rather take pictures of her anyway. :)

So....with no further delay...presenting Mary Katherine, 10 months, at the park!

So serious!

I was playing around with my editing so some finishes are better than others. Some of these pictures may look as though we are mobile. Don't let her fool you...she was just a poser!

Surprise photo op...

CONTINUED... I just love black and whites. Why is it that they are always my favorites? Look at her chubby arms and legs. I could just eat them up. :)

We really enjoyed the swings!

THE END. Now go ahead and scroll back up to take a second look at this cutie. I know you want to!

New Pajamas?

Roger watched Mary Katherine tonight while I was at a shower. This is what I came home too....
Our conversation:
Me: "Oh....she had to change clothes?"
Roger: "Yeah...she had her bath, so we put on her pajamas."
Me: laughing
I laugh because this is a shirt and it's on backwards.
Poor dad...he just really struggles with the clothing.

Even funnier....Roger didn't have his shirt on and MK was concentrating on pulling his chest hairs. She continued this pulling for a while.

Garden Update!

Well...we've gone from this...to this!
We've learned alot in our first year of gardening.
1. The spacing guidelines on the back of the packet are there for a reason. Our squash have shaded out our peppers and are starting to overcome my black-eyes.
2. Don't thin out corn the day before you have 60 mph winds!
3. Communicate with everyone involved with the garden so that you don't plant one crop on top of another!
4. There are several types of yellow squash. I bought the curved ones that get fat on the bottom, when I really wanted the other ones.

These are just the ones that come to the top of my head. Goodness...with all my mistakes, it's amazing that I still am going to have produce! Must be that virgin soil that I've read about. :)

Sucker!

Yep! We still are a suckin' away! (And yes...we can multitask as well.)

Raft Repair

"Hey, mom, just checking out the mechanics of the raft."
"I think I've spotted the problem!"
"Let's see...I'll do a little tweaking here...and let's see how she works."
"Yay...(applause) I think she'll be working just fine now!"
We're ready for the big pool!!

No photos, just words...

I don't have new pictures to share, but wanted to do a little blogging...

Motherhood has been so rewarding lately! I think it's a combination of things coming together that has made me so thankful for my life as a mom. This is what I've come up with...

1. Mary Katherine is sleeping better--day and night! This alone makes a huge difference. I get more sleep, baby gets more sleep, daddy gets a less frazzled wife....it's wonderful!

2. Overall, Mary Katherine is now a pretty easy baby. Several people told me that difficult babies, make easier toddlers. I don't know if this is the case or if I am just comparing it to the way it used to be...BUT either way, I feel grateful! We finally can have a little flexibility in our schedule.

3. She is so fun right now! It's amazing how much brain development happens in just a few months. The thing I absolutely LOVE right now is her jibberish chatter. She sits on the floor or in her car seat and has lengthy conversations with who knows what/who. MY HEART SMILES to listen to her voice! How could anything ever sound sweeter than this?!

Okay...enough of the cheesy words. This is what happens when I blog at night when I'm tired. It's like when I wake up in the middle of the night bothered by something and I decide I'm going to go tell someone something that I've needed to say for a while. I've got the whole speech outlined...then when I wake up in the morning and am thinking straight I'm like...What was I thinking??? Anyone else do this?
