What a week!

As I sit down to post tonight my legs feel like noodles, my feet on fire, and my brain is mush. At the end of Memorial day weekend, MK began to get sick. At first we thought it was her new front tooth coming in. Then as the week continued and her temperature continued to rise we decided to take MK to the doctor. The doctor visit turned into Mary Katherine's first hospital stay. In the end, we weren't sure of everything that was going on in her body--slight pneumonia or another type of infection. She was miserable for a few days, but I am delighted to report she is back to 100%. Thank you to those who prayed for her during our scare!

My sick little baby the first night. The IV was not a fun process for anyone to experience!

Here she is donning the smallest hospital gown they had. The gown was the quickest and easiest thing to take on and off with the IV. At one point in the night she had the gown completely over her head and her legs coming out of the crib's bars. The weekend was then wrapped up with the big two day garage sale at my parents. In the words of my mom's UPS man the day of the sale..."I think I'd rather go to the dentist twice than have a garage sale!" This pretty much sums it up!

Roush Family Reunites

We had a wonderful weekend in Arapaho, OK visiting with the Roush family! Lots of fun, good food, and great fellowship! We were also so glad to see sister Holly and brother Brian.

At the park...

"I think I want to touch him!"
"Don't worry Mom...we're just holding hands."
"How do you get these Cheerios out of the sack?"
"This baggie doesn't taste near as good as the stuff inside!"

Just a thought...

I don't like being in pictures--mainly because I'm never quite satisfied with how I look. This might explain why I only have a handful of pictures with MK. I guess it boils down to pride that I don't like them. I read the following blog today off of Pioneer Woman and it really challenged me. I want my children to be able to have pictures and memories to look back on. I'm going to try to get over myself and just "snap out of it" as the author in the blog says. (or I guess I could just lose the weight and take better care of myself as well )

Read it and see what you think.

This is an excerpt out of Pioneer Woman's blog . I was going to try to paraphrase what she was saying, but couldn't do it justice. http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/2009/05/snap-out-of-it/

Snap Out of It!May. 12, 2009

I’m not a very bossy person. Well, okay. In the car I am bossy.
But in general I don’t tell people what they should do.
But I think I’ve found my calling.
I feel called to tell you to…get in the picture!
Forget your foolish pride and just jump in the frame.
Our parents died when I was 16. Our mom died within a year of taking this picture with my sister, Janet.
It is my very favorite picture of her. (sorry the picture wasn't pasted.)
This picture brings me so much joy, I can not tell you. I have it on the refrigerator and look at it every day.
I do not know if I have a picture of myself with my mom.
But I do have a picture of myself with my dad. (once again not pasted)
There we are. Me and my dad and my sister Cindy. So, so long ago. It was 1973 and we were on vacation in Maui. Haleakala Crater. Look how handsome our dad was! I see my son Matthew in him.
I am so thankful for these pictures.
It doesn’t matter how you do it.

It only matters that you do it!
Today I want to urge you to get over your shyness and pride and get in the picture!
I wish, wish, wish I had more pictures of me with our children. It is one of my few regrets.
So here’s the deal…
1. In five years you will look five years older….you WILL look young in the pictures you take today!
2. Ten years ago I thought I was fat. Oh my goodness….I should have taken pictures THEN.
3. Your children look at you all day long. THEY know what you look like. They won’t care how you look in the picture.
I really don’t like how I look in pictures. It pains me. I still want to look like I did when I was 25 years old. And really I’m shocked that I don’t.
But seriously. My children love me just the way I am. Chins and all.
Consider this your call to action!
You can do it. I know you can. If I can, you can!
Let your light shine. You will never regret it!
Encourage one another,Miz Booshay

Come and visit...we're available!

Why is it that I get to have a child that doesn't want to sleep? Just when I finally think I've got a schedule figured out, she decides to change it up--without my permission. For the past 4 days, MK hasn't fallen asleep for her last nap. Now I guess we'll just be taking two, 30 minute naps.

Anyone want to hang out? Looks like our schedule just opened up some more.

Here we are Mother's Day morning at church . Mary Katherine had her baby dedication. I wanted to add a picture and thought this was a great one--minus the fact that my face is washed out and my entire body looks swollen, MK has such a pleasant look on her face, and Roger's white forehead is beaming.

All kidding aside, baby dedication was important to us as it was our public commitment to raise MK in a Christian home and hopefully guide her in a way that will lead her to knowing Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. We were to share a life verse that we've chosen for Mary Katherine. Roger and I narrowed it down to three verses and really struggled with what we felt was most important. We decided on Mark 12:30-31.

"AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH". The second is this, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

In talking, we felt it boiled down to this, If you are loving the Lord with your entire being then the rest should follow. Also, these were direct words from Jesus and he said that these were the greatest commandments.

A dad and his daughter...

These pictures make me smile. Roger is in love with his baby girl!
Here we are blowing bubbles.
Dad talking "baby-ese" trying to make her smile.

Sweet forehead kisses

Checking each other out

Posing for the camera (take your hand out of your mouth MK)
We have had rainy, cool weather for awhile now, so we haven't got to spend much time outside and little to no walks. I should have been taking more pictures since the overcast takes good pictures. Tomorrow's forecast is 85 with little wind. I hope we can get out and enjoy the day!

...and continued again (we've been busy!)

...much bubble blowing and mouth noises
...more bubbles
...rolling around playing with toys. This seems to be the way we've decided to get around for now.
and some good ol' laughing! Check out those teeth--yes, they have done some biting on mom lately. Not fun!

continued...

...cooking a little with mommy. She should know by now that I'm not much for measuring.
...a lot of talking and new faces. "Yeah, I turned 8 months. So what?"
...extended reaching (but no crawling)
...beginnings of clapping (maybe??? Grandma's been working on this.)

What the Teal girls have been up to...

It's been a while since I've blogged, so here's a recap of how we've been spending our time the past few weeks...
...a little outside time on the nice days.
...posing for mom under the porch on the rainy days.
...started a garden inside, then moved it outside last week
we're still waiting on the verdict of how successful we will be.
